taking footprints

leave only footprints, take only memories. nah, i am taking my footprints with me.

i finally got voice mail set up on my cell phone. i had trouble with the message. my answering machine says 'we can't come to the phone right now...blah blah blah'. but it's a cell phone. supposed to be with you, the purpose of a cell phone - you're always contactable. (contactable? hmm. are eyes contactable?) i guess i could say 'i cannot take your call right now...'. somehow that seems a little rude. so, now it's just 'this is alissa. please leave your name and number, time you called and a message and i'll get back to you as soon as possible.' i don't like that, either. hmm.

no more tip-toe standing to get on space mountain. disney is now using an ultrasound beam to measure kids as they go into the park, and they are then given wrist bands that will only let them onto the rides they are tall enough for. what's up with that? if a kid really wants to ride space mountain, and is an inch short, let him stand on his tiptoes and wear sneakers with thick soles. i guess i am nostalgic about it. i have vivid memories of my little sister standing as straight as possible, attempting to somehow stretch her skin, sucking in her breath and tilting her chin upwards trying to be tall enough to ride space mountain. while i would have been more than happy to give her a few of my inches so i didn't have to go. i know it's more accurate, it just seems wrong. i'm old fashioned that way. :)
